Writer's Block: How I got on LJ

Who introduced you to LiveJournal? Why did you first open an account or get involved?

View other answers

I don't know who, or what it was, but I know a few friends that had it and so I decided to join up. I was in such a bad place in my life that at that point I was willing to try anything. LJ just happend to be another outlet for all the things I had been holding on to for such a long time.

Looking back on some of my original posts....man I was in a bad way.

Writer's Block: Whose part would you play?

If you could be cast on any TV show, from any time, who would you play?

I would either play as a confidant of MacGyver or play myself on an episode of Survivor.

I haven’t really been’a postin’ lately and I attribute that mainly to work. It’s been hectic around here, but things are starting to level out. I probably have another week or so before things truly calm down. We’re about to start the upgrade to our new Content Management System and that’s going to be a beast, but we’ll survive.

Untraceable, more like unwatchable

Originally published at Baggie!. You can comment here or there.

On Saturday someone wanted to come take a look at the house, so Maggie and I decided to occupy our time by going and seeing Untraceable. It looked half-way decent and we had about 2 hours to kill. Well, we would’ve been better off turning the car on, and just sitting in the garage.

This was a terrible, terrible movie. It was just bad in every way. There wasn’t any redeeming quality about it. The acting was bad; the story was full of holes and impossibilities. There was very little character development and it was rather predicable. About an hour in, Maggie and I both wanted to walk out, but seeing as we had already invested the time and the $12, decided to stay. I’m not so sure we made the right decision.

Either way, this was a sorry attempt at retelling Saw (only the first one, none of the other ones count), or Se7en. I would not recommend watching this, not even as a drinking game. Movies like The Core, Stealth, Mind Games, Armageddon, etc. have a certain quality about them that makes them tolerable. We’ve seen a lot of bad movies, and this is no exception.

In other news, the rest of the weekend was pretty good. The weather was awesome, we got the house cleaned, we got to play some Warcraft, and it was just nice to just relax.

Friday night I got to hang out with Jon Lee. We went to the Vortex and I got to experience what I can only describe as the best and worst burger of all time (the Elvis burger: Beef, bacon, bananas, peanut butter, and I added cheese dip and ranch for extra flavor). Luckily I only had 1 bite of that. Any more and I would’ve died…right there. After that, we hung out for a bit then went to the Claremont Lounge. It’s safe to say that this place has not changed since the first and only time I’ve been. It really is an experience.

Read above for Saturday. Sunday we sat around, then we decided we were gonna do our weekly long-run. I can’t express how proud I am of Maggie. She pushed herself farther than she ever had before. She ran like 4.5 miles or something. That’s pretty awesome considering she’s been having wicked shin splints. I only see her improving and that makes me happier than ever. I wanted to see if I could push my self to a 10k, and I did. It actually came out to something like 10.79k so damn! The only downside is that I may have sprained or caused a stress fracture in my left foot. If it’s not better by tomorrow I’m going to head to the doctor. It really hurts to walk, so we’ll see.

That’s about all I had. The post title, is a bit misleading, but eh, whatever. Bottom line is, don’t see Untraceable, but do go for a run. That’s it. Have a great week!

johnny fairplay’s out!

i’m tnot sure if you watched survivor or not, but johnny fairplay aka johnny fairplay got the boot tonight. he said that he wanted to go home becuase he missed his fetus aka unborn baby but really this tis what maggie an di deduced. it was ages agoe when he was on the show. there was drama when he got not put on all stars. he caucesed drama. CBS was like, “OMFG biches! lets get fairplay for the fans vs. favs. show.”! he was like “omfg biches pay me money!” they were like “omgf ratings will blow our minds!” peoepel jumpped on the show it was a smash it was on the interwebs the tubes and then he was like “f’  this s’ in the a’ you guys  can kiss my arse! i’ll take my check know, kthnxbi”

i’m prety srue that’s exaqtly how the meering went with j. fairplay and mr. cbs. but what am i just to say? all i know is that it’s seems a bit fishy and garhsh danngit if i should’ve been on this sean. my survivor audiotion tape was the blows?! i’ll make another one and it will blow the moteher!

on to otner news. i’m a converttee. at first i did not like christian on project runway, but after this week, i’m on his camp now. he was liek “this bitch is fierce and i’ma make a fierce thang for her!” that’s what he did. he’s just cocky and funny. i dunno. he’s pretty cool. this season is all kinds of commercialized, but that’s ok, i still like the show. tim gunn and the “make it work” crew are top notch in my book.

LOST introduced 2 new people in adddition to the 2 or 3 other people that were aslo introduced. it was a great episode and i know now why i waited this long to see it. i really want to talk about a) this season and b) my expectation s of this season, but i think i mgithg be too far gone to really analyse the situation. so LOST was rawking and i hope theat when the righters stirke ends that we will get more p’sodes. but it will most like liekly be in the fall. i’m ok with that as long as it happens.

ok, well, if’ve reached the point where i can no longer feel my face. i think that’s a good stopping point. for now i will go to bed and sleep until i wake up and go to work in the moring. tomrrow i will go to work and i will leave there and go to get my hair cut and then i will go and hang out with jon. i hear that he and tamera are no longer together but you know what, ? that is ok because he doesn’t seem nearly as upset as he did last time. he ins a much more oplder person now. omfg i just got dizzy and almost died. it is time for bed.

Rick and Lacy got engaged yesterday! I couldn’t be more happy for them. They are like the perfect couple. We all knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of time.

Again, congratulations!

Oh, and there really is that much ‘bling’ on the ring. Rick doesn’t half-ass it.

There’s no fate but what we make ourselves.

Originally published at Baggie!. You can comment here or there.

Well, actually the fate is kinda on the wall for the Terminator series. I can see it now. As the series progresses John will become more and more enthralled with the “machines.” He will begin to sketch, plan, plot, devise, execute his plan. What is his plan? He is creating a machine. He is building a robot. The purpose of which is either to combat the machines of his present or simply a machine so he can better understand them. In the end his creation will turn on him and become Skynet. There are simply too many things that point to this.

  • Why are the machines still there even after John continually defeats them?
  • He’s really good with computers and is getting better.
  • He’s got one with him that knows how to build them.
  • He’s got some of the metal stuff now.
  • He’s all shakey and pencil holdly at the end of the most recent episode.
  • It’s an easy way to write the new franchise movie they are planning.

So that’s my prediction. Oh, and in the future, John will meet a woman who he falls in love with or has some sort of vested interest in. Something will happen to her and he will create a robot that looks/acts/talks/mimics the woman he was attached to. He will then send her back to help protect the past (current present) John. I mean, that’s just too easy.

That’s all I have. I’ve been up for like 20 hours now, I think it’s bed time.

Maggie On Friday night Maggie got to celebrate her 30th birthday one more time. This time, Rock Band style! Thanks go out to Kim, James and Kit for making that one hell of a night. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had that much fun. That and I got to see James all kinds of tore up (and see a “side” of him I’d rather not see again). It really was a great night and birthday or not, I’d really like to do that again. Pictures are now on the Photos page!

What happens in Vegas…

Originally published at Baggie!. You can comment here or there.

Originally I was going to make a post about how aweful the trip to Vegas was and how everything went wrong, but I don’t think that would really accomplish anything. To be honest things could have gone worse and they could have been better. Bottom line was that I got to spend time with my wife away from work and out and about. I let things get the better of me while there and it just compounded. As a result of me focusing on me focusing on her I lost sight of the bigger picture and ultimately that’s where it went wrong.

This week has been a bajillion times better and I couldn’t be happier (well, I could, but that’s nothing new). Either way you look at it, we were in Las Vegas and we did have fun. I want to appologize to Maggie for being such a grumpy gus while there. I didn’t ruin things with my bad luck, I prohibited our fun by worrying about the bad luck (which led to worse luck).

This is part of life. These are the things that we go through. We have spells like this where nothing seems to go our way. There are few choices we have when presented with these situations, but the strong prevail and I did not do so over the past week or so. But I’m big enough to admit where I went wrong and move along. I’m not going to dwell on the past and keep thinking about how things could’ve been better because that will make me lose sight of how good things were.

So again, no more talks of Las Vegas and how it wasn’t the trip of a life time, because it was. We made it what it was and I think that we came out ahead and better off because of it.

Oh, and one more thing. The new episode of LOST pwned my soul. I’m so glad this show is back on the air and that the writers strike is coming to an end. Well, at least that’s what I’ve heard. We’ll see.

That’s all I had. I’m gonna go hit the hay so I can start fresh again tomorrow. I’ll be putting the pictures up tomorrow as well. I’ll send out a message when they are up.

my pre f’u vegas post

Originally published at Baggie!. You can comment here or there.

so vegas was balls. not reign of fire balls but talented mr. ripley balls. this was one of the most not cool vaccations i’ve benn on. and really it was all my fault. everything i could do wrong i did. everything that could go wrong did. it was a one string of bad luck after another. i reckon it was because i had such high expecctions of it but it was suckage.

i really do have a longer post about all the shit that was going on but i’m kinda tipsy so i think i’ll wait until i get a bit more under control to post about that. so tonight we watched biggest loser and project runway. and i have to say that i really lige bigges to loser. the girl Maggie on there looks like katie wich is really disturbing to me. but shes; still on the show and didn’t get voted offf. so that’s cool i reckon. but only becaus her name is maggie. i like dan. i think he reminds me of me when i was super fat. for those that don’t know i was pushing 310 back in the day. i don’t have any pics on line. well i do but i can’t fine it right now. or something. but yeah. i was chubasarous. but i’m down to a good 230 now. that’s still not where i want to be, but i’;ll get there one of these days.

i really don’t know where i was going with this. but i reckon i was going some where. magie is down stairs watching house at the moment. oh, project runways. that’s right. that show is still kinda cool. i’m pissed that kit got voted off. she was hella awesome, but somewhoe gay trucker hat got to stay. oh well, at least christian is still there. he’s a hoot. he’s got some pretty rad heair. i think rommy is going to go to the finals. he makes some pretty well tailored outfits. but what the hell do i know i’m just a fat ass that drinks a lot and. hmm. what?

oh, so i did some math and really i only ever drink alcohol, water and juice. is’nt that crazy? i’ll have a soda when there’s booz up in that shit, but usually it’s just water and liquor or beer or wine and water. right now i’m hooked on the wild turkey american honey. i think it’s wild turkey. is that a brand of liquor? i’m not sure. but i know it’s american honey. that shit is good stuff. it’s like barenjager but less thick. that shit gets up in your gears.

well, i think i’m gonna go lay donw. if i get home in time to get up in the morning to get home tomorrow night i’ll go for a jog. maybe i can beat maggie at our challeng. not katie maggie but cool wife maggie. i challenged her to a nother challege where i challenge her to a certain feat and if she wins then i lose. i don’t like to lose. it’s chester vs. jojo. my monesy’ on the cat. cat = jojo. well, i’m rambing and i think i should slee.

tomorrow (hopefyllly) i’ll get that real vegas post up, including pics of how we watching the monte carlo burn and how i watched the hover dam. night all!

Tomorrow we leave for the city of lights, the city that never sleeps, the city of one million dreams, the home of the $2 all you can eat buffet and the $1 cup of coffee (according to my dad at least). For Maggie’s 30th (gasp!) birthday we are going to Las Vegas. Back in December we decided on this and we even asked a few people if they wanted to go, as it turns out, its just going to be Maggie, myself, and her folks. I’m ok with that. We’ll still have a blast.

Oh SNOW you didn’t!

Originally published at Baggie!. You can comment here or there.

That was a pretty terrible title, but it could’ve been a lot worse. Well, maybe not. Anywho, over the weekend (Jan 18th - 21st) we had some snow. Not just like a small ‘dusting’ like we had earlier in the week but really some good snowball making type snow. I had a chance to get out and take some pictures (see our photos page). There really is something peaceful about a snow. It’s quite calming and comforting. At least it is to me. I’m sure there are a lot of people that hate the snow and the cold and everything about it, but I’d be perfectly fine if it were the “blizzard of ‘93″ again every year. Those were the some pretty fun days. Despite the fact that I was held up at home with just my mom, brother and soon to be sister-in-law, I had a great time.

I ate a gallon of milk for dinner

Originally published at Baggie!. You can comment here or there.

Today was my mom’s birthday and for her dinner she wanted to go to Maggianio’s (sp?). So we went. I, like normal, decided to order something out of the ordinary. For me the one thing that stuck out in my mind was the Braised Beef Canneloni. I mean how bad could it be? It’s like beef that has been braised then put into shells with 2 kinds of cheese. that’ like the most basic of itialian foods in the history of the planet. so any crap. they brought it out (thankfully i only got the half portiong) and this was like a friggin’ bowl of whole milk wich chunks of beef and cheese and heavy cream and butter. i don’t know of an ever time where i’ve ever had a richer savory meal. this thing was deep! i’magine unrappping an 24 pack of cheese slices, stacking them on top of each other, then just taking a bite. imagine if you were to put molasas and sour cream in a blender and take a few shots of that. that’s the richness of this stuff. don’t get me wrong. that shit was tasty as hell, but damn if it’ wasn’t heavy. i’m glad i only got half an order cause b’jeez was there a lot.

in other news my mom is 58 this year. and she’s crazy as ever. any time her and my dad go to dinner it’s a laugh riot! it’s like that sneezing panda video but what? no. that’s not what it’s like. it is just they are crazy and yell and argue and bicker and are loud all the time. my dad tells the same core stories over and over again. it’s like watching your friends favorite movie every time you go over there. you keep telling him “yeah. we watched this last time we were over here.” but he keeps insisting that Bio-dome is great and you should watch it. Oh well. that’s my foldks I love’em.

Oh, so peep dis. the pay increase i got this year was circumvented by the mega bonus i got last year. so now rather than making x ever other week i’m making x - $134. what a crock. that’s lame! so yeah. that was my day. my stomach is heavy as shit. maggie won’t let me throw up. we’ve made the mac and cheese balls. i’m half drunk. and i’m sleepy. i’m gonna go get in the bed. maybe when i get up in the morning the’rll be 12′ of snow…informer!

Terminators, working, exercising, and other random thoughts

Originally published at Baggie!. You can comment here or there.

Maggie and I have been bustin’ our tails on the trails lately. It shows not only on the nike+ site but it shows in the way our clothes fit and our general health. I’m super proud of us. Maggie’s been dealing with some wicked shin splints, but she keeps going and is even putting up some pretty impressive numbers. I’m a bit behind my goal of ten sub-10min miles, but I’m getting close. But thanks to Dragonforce I managed to pull off a 10′31″ mile the other day! If anyone has a nike+ nano ipod apple nike shoe thing hook it up, we’re ready for all challengers! Even if you don’t have one, let us know if you’re up for a run one weekend and we’ll meet up somewhere.

Work has been pretty good. Looks like by the middle of the year I’ll be a Content Engineering Delivery Manager (title pending). Not entirely sure what that means, but it would be 6 promotions in 6 years. That’s a pretty good track record if you ask me. I’m starting to get use to the new responsibilities, but damn the hours are killing me. Good thing is that’s its only going to be like this occasionally. We’ve had several deployments lately and only 1 more big one in the near future. It’s quite a job trying to manage all the little things. The big items seem to kinda work themselves out, but all those small quick fixes just never stop. Oh well, that’s how things go I reckon. I welcome the challenge.

Speaking of challenges, this weekend is our 3rd “catering” gig. We’ll be doing a party for our friend Jon Acuff. Really it’s only 4 food itmes, but then again, it’s a small event. That’s how things get started I reckon. You can’t start off big. Well you can, but you’ll most likely fail. We’ve got to start small and get our name out there and the only way is to do small gigs and hope that we impress someone enough to ask us to do their small party. We’ll get there one of these days. It won’t happen over night, but it’ll happen. Maggie and I are good at what we do, we just have to prove that to the rest of the world.

I’m in the process of upgrading my home computer. It’s kinda the suck right now. It’s done me well for quite a while, but I want something a bit more betterer. I’ve got a few items picked out on newegg.com but haven’t purchased anything yet. If anyone sees any good deals on mobo’s, processors, memory, etc lemme know cause I’m sure Maggie will certainly appreciate this thing being built on the cheap.

The Manchester Orchestra - I’m digging them right now. I’ve put two of their songs below. One if the song they play on the radio, the other is just a random one I picked from their CD. Supposedly they’ve been around for a while and are just now getting played. Whadda’ya think?

We finally got around to watching the new Terminator series and I have to admit that it’s fantastic. They did a really good job of putting in a lot of the subtleties that James Cameron worked hard to incorporate into his movie.

SPOILER ALERT

Wrestlemaniac! WTF!

Originally published at Baggie!. You can comment here or there.

First I saw this: http://dvd.ign.com/articles/845/845937p1.html.

Then I saw the trailer:

Then my head asplode! What the hell is going on these days?! What ever happened to Suburban Commando or Mr. Nanny? Back when wrestlers movie legends. Now they’ll just slap some crap together and put a wrestler in it expecting it to be an instant hit. I see this only ever happening if they put Tripple H in a new Conan movie.

Ok, more on yesterday’s post later. I just wanted to get that out there. Man, no wonder writers are on strike. When being forced to churn out this shit I’d strike too.
